Hello peeps,
If you weren't aware already, a guy in New Zealand has fully restored a DH98 Mosquito to flying condition and it has already displayed in a NZ Airshow and he plans to build more airworthy examples!!

Sir Geoffrey De Havilland sure did make some pretty aeroplanes and Beethoven is boring compared to the sound of TWO Merlins at full chat resonating through a wooden airframe!!!
I saw the previous only airworthy example at a UK airshow some years ago about 12 months before it sadly crashed - I would love to see one again!!
Better than the Spitfire in my opinion!!!

One of the most beautiful fighter bombers ever built and to see one flying again would be priceless. If ever there was a model for de Ag to introduce, this one definately gets my vote. Nice find mate

If sex was an aeroplane then this would be the perfect example .Absolutely stunning. I saw the mossie that crashed in '96 at IAT '91 a memory I will cherish,as will my eldest son,3 at the time,as the pilot took him up into the cockpit(friend of a friend) the look on his face was pure joy,sadly along with so many other treasured photos the pictorial memories were lost in a move...I still can't work out where that box went  Rob Nolli Illigitimi Carborundum!!!Current Builds: HMS Victory, SV Thermopylae

many may disagree, but for me, the Mosquito is the most beautiful plane ever build during WW2. just to see it fly would be a dream come true. I smile because i have NO IDEA whats going on :)

The mossie and the beachcraft staggerwing are my two fave aircraft Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks for the comments guys and I completely agree with all of your sentiments. Andy I know what you mean about the Beechcraft Staggerwing and Smuggler, you are right in my view, the Mosquito was the most beautiful plane of WWII and I too think it was better than the Spitfire - but not by much!!

I'd love to see a Mossie partwork which included the same level of wooden construction. The huge Airfix 1/24 Mossie is a fantastic kit but all that plastic leaves out its soul. Here's a link to the CAD video http://www.airfix.com/mossie/

Couldn't agree more Tom, I would love that myself - you need to give DeAgostini a nudge in the right direction on behalf of all aviation modelling enthusiasts!!
I toyed with getting the Airfix 1/24 and all the aftermarket bits for it when it was released but decided against it in the end because of the need to spend my money elsewhere. Probably very sought after now and very expensive like all good and popular subjects in modelling!! Thanks for the link, very interesting.

There are some stunning resin upgrades from Paragon and a metal U/C set, even turned brass gun barrels from Master Models which have to be seen to be believed!
