BigGrin Now for tha adding of the bow and the construction of the bow formers on the ply deck provided. I used the deck plate as a guide to get the bow in the correct position.
Now i have a question about the instructions on the fitting of the bow deck. If you follow the instructions to get a straight line /edge on the hull planking from former 9 to 12 you are left with frames 10 and 11 that are below the line of the hull planking. My question is this ok or do you follow the line of the formers here, im thinking of when we come to glue this in position there will be a floating deck in this area [ only glued to the hull planking] and the adding of the forward flight deck supports in future.I might add fillets/spacers to this area but any comments on this would be welcome
regards
Andy

Hi Andy,

I have the same problem, how did you overcome it?

Thanks

BigGrin Hi All
i removed the plastic strip from my hull and used the moulded strip provided [this would work great on the Yamato build too, better by far than the wire provided for this],i deviated a little here from the build instructions instead of cutting all the peices out i used the round nose plyers provided in the free tools kit to bend the strips to shape. This helps keep the joints to a minimum also i have stil to add the mid stern area strips as this area as pointed out by Yaturo is not right[the strips go above the guns in this area not under as shown on the plans],i think il need to mould some extra strips here as i think i will be short when it comes to compleating this area.
I added the etch to the bow hanger base and the shaped and added the two cast walkways,im still deciding about these as there way off scale [they would be at least a foot thick at full size]il probably just scratch build these items.
I then shaped the two rear etch hangar parts and put them to one side, mine needed a fair bit of work as they are two pieces of etch stuck together and not aligned very well, some work with the file cured this.
Finaly i added the bow etch plate,no real problems were encountered here just had to straigten one rear corner bent by an overenthusiastic postman forcing it through my letterbox. Also the final three hangar covers were added,as always all comments/questions are welcome
regards

BigGrin Hi Del_Boy
the side elevation port and starboard plans should arrive with dispatch 14 there was a slight hickup with these as they wernt in the pack but were sent by post in another envelope,i think this has been sorted now and you should recieve them in dispatch 14.
As for the port hole information if you look on page 12 post #230 all the info is there including the count of each size and cost, its not cheap to do by the way but i thought it was a great improvement on just leaving drilled out holes as portholes.
And thankyou for your comments on my diary this build is not the easyest as it is seriously out of sequence in parts and its lucky we have Yaturo's excelent advice from Japan to warn us of the pitfalls,i hope my diary is of use to everyone who is building the Akagi if it is then thats reward enough for me

BigGrin Hi All
some more pics on progress,im still painting up the stern etch deck after fitting to size might be just my build but there was quite a bit taken off the sides here to get it to fit. Part of this months items was to put railings around the bow hanger platforms but I haven't fitted these as yet as the Fujimi Akagi shows that the upper platform runs all the way round the outside of the hangar back to the mid section decks, im not realy that happy with the castings anyway [too big if they were scaled up to real size they would be 1ft thickLOL ]so it looks like I will be scratch building this itemBlink . There were some items to make up aswell but there not going to be used for a while so il be making and fitting when the time comes, as for the rest of this month its adding pieces, making up stations and the usual metal bashingDrool. I am also casting the anchor chain winches in plastic I think Yaturo scratch built his but I thought I would try the casting method. As always all comment/questions are welcome
