Hey Mike,Great stuff:)
As a new guy i'm still trawling the masses of information on here and just came across your Victory enhancement in Jeff's build,i think i found something of a SOTS enhancement and maybe didn't know what it meant at the time...or maybe i didn't,i couldn't be sure with the amount of new info i'm taking in all the time with this, but either way i think it looks great, and sorry for the quick fire quiz round but....
Could you tell me more?
Is this your creation?
Are you doing one for the SOTS?
Whats the price?
Can I Have One?Drool

Hi Rich, the Victory gallery enhancement is my creation, you can purchase one, please PM me with your email address.

For the SOTS the enhancements so far are:-

1) Ships Boat(see photo)
2) Walnut Carraiges and trucks for Sots Cannons( The top photo shows the new enhancement, with the present carraige sides at the top, the bottem photo shows the comparison of the two)

With more to follow

Kind regards Mike

STAGE 3 FITTING THE BALSA INFILLS TO THE DECK

Hi team here we go with the next session.
We have fitted the front 3 ribs with Balsa, now we are going to fit Balas infill to the deck area, making a note of the measurements between ribs, this will space the ribs correctly so that they will not move.

PLEASE NOTE (sorry this is important)many new members to modelling, build their models in a shed in the garden, this can subject the model to intense temperature changes, please take your models into the house at night, to avoid twisting etc. If you leave it in the shed and you do not work on it for a couple of days, and it rains that damp air is going to penetrate your model and course all manner of problems.

Enough of the lecture, here we go:-

The measurement between the remaining ribs on my ship are 2 1/8inch,2 1/4 inch, 2 /1516 inch,2 1/5 inch,2 1/8inch and finally 3 ich, your measurements may vary but please make sure you measure at both sides of the rib and adjust your Balsa infill so that the measurement is the same right across the infill even if you have to adjust the rib(but do not bend the keel in doing so) and above all do not cut the Infill too large that you have to force it in. Some Photos:-

STAGE 3 FITTING BALSA DECK INFILLS

Well team thats about it for this session.
I used 1/4inch Balsa to do this job,and you see I used a cotten wool bud to spread the PVA ahesive, you can use a brush if you prefer.
Questions and comments welcomeBigGrin the next session will be adding 1/2inch Balsa to the sides of the Hull. Please leave for 24 hours for the adhesve to cure, do you notice how firm the ribs have become? do not worry about the parts of the ribs above the deck these will move but we can straighten these when we fit the ply decks

I hope all this is helpful to new membersBigGrin Kind regards Mike

Heya Mike, looking good so far...

Just thinking about best way to internally route the wiring for my lighting project while fitting the balsa infills. Is there any particular reason why the infills can't be 5mm below the decking level?

Looking forward to the next instalment BigGrin

Hi Andy, A good point, not a problem at 5mm, any more and we start to lose the integrity of the fix when we fit the side pieces coming in the next sessionBigGrin the deck infill would be a good support for your wiring
looking forward to seeing your lighting enhancementBigGrin kind regards Mike
