Hi Colin
I cannot thank you enough for finding that site for Trincomalee. It is so much more dynamic than their site. The 360 degree views show me how much more work they have done on the presentation side since my last visit which, to my horror, must be ten years ago!!! Where does time go?
You need to watch some of the details of course, Trincomalee saw active service in the 1830's to 1860's and conditions had changed since the time of Victory and even more so the time of Bounty. Just one example is the dress of the sailors sat at the mess table wearing a uniform which is definitely post Trafalgar.
In the early 19th century sailors wore 'slops' whatever clothes the purser chose to supply. Only commisioned and warrant officers had any kind of standard uniform.
By the way your starboard side view of bounty is very much the same as mine. Did you get your 'dust' supplies from the same web-site as me, I wonder??

Hi Mike, gald you found that link to your satisfaction mate.
Oh yes I agree about time scale of the Trincomalee, I do have little figures but will NOT be adding them, Im just getting the feel for the lower decks.
Dust, I may sell it on ebay, yours for a 10% discount.
Oh and Santa Maria has some lovely curves, needs a steady hand to shape 'em

Apparently according to the 'boss' I have too much of it in stock alreasdy. Keeps mentioning a 'duster'. Is this some ancient maritime term? Mike

thanks for the rat picture. it is funny how many everyday terms come from the Navy. My Grandfather was in the Navy 1934-1972 and he still says 'lets find a billet' when I am looking for a car parking space “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
