Hi guys....my build was going swimmingly, but I have hit a bit of a snag I cannot get these parts from issue 74 to sit down flat! I have read all the instructions to the letter, and really want some advice what to do next???? Has anybody else had this problem also?? Thanks for your time guys, Chris.

I haven't got that far yet Chris as I am behind everybody else at the moment and just working on improving the appearance of my exhaust pipes. I may get to issue #74 soon, so will see what happens and if I have the same problem, I will get back to you on how I resolve it. Otherwise, I am sure that there will be others on here who can help, though I don't recall anybody else mentioning that problem? Could be wrong though?

Looks like you've got the side pod cowl parts misaligned. Ie the black part and the silver/red part. Check you've got them lined up correctly. Is it the same on both sides? If at first you don't succeed........skydiving is not for you!

Hi I did not have any problem with this part but from the photo it looks as though you may have put it together wrong. This link may help. http://www.mclaren.partw...ls.co.uk/modelframe.htm
Good luck

What I found was easier was fiting the side bit that matches to the monocoque to the bottom where the gap is first then slipping the intake on after... looking at the picture the line at the top is at what looks like 15 degrees and should almost be horizontal... give it a go and see what you think... give everything a dry fit first to make sure all is to fit nicely..

The parts all fit together well, so I guess you've got something amiss somewhere. I can't quite work out what from the photos. Can you take some more photos from different angles ? That might help us to work out what's adrift.
For what it's worth, these parts were a little tricky to work out which way round they were supposed to go, but when they were right, they were definitley right.

if i can remember right, im sure i had to physically hold the pieces in place for some time till they were definately stuck together as mine had a gap the other side where the two silver parts touch.

For some reason i have two left pieces instead of a left and a right of the part that attaches to this then is glued to the cockpit...its the black bit that forms the 'top' of the radiator intakes...hmmm but mine went together ok...

Which 'two left parts' are we on about here??? I'm not starting my build until I have all the bits, and then maybe not until next year anyway. I'd like to check my bits are ok. Which issue are these 'two-the-same' parts from, or are we still talking issue 74???

Yes thats it, its the bit thats top right in the first pic, and bottom left in the second pic, i got two left ones.....it connects the cockpit to the cowl i guess, and forms the top of the radiator inlet - although once all the body work is on, i dont think anyone would notice but once its in place it does help pull the curved cowl edge in, if that makes sense!!!
