Hi Guys, I´ve been working on the keel over the weekend. Must say, that i was a little bit afraid of this task, cause the model is depending on a straight keel so much. So i worked very slowly, centimeter by centimeter. And finally it worked out quite ok. She`s starting to look like a shipDaDokta attached the following image(s): Greetings, Walter

Hi Bernd, Just had a look at your build diary, it is fantastic. I notice that you have used a metallic lead paint for the entry port roof and quarter gallery top panels, can you give details of this paint, and either manufactures colour/number as all I can find are many shades of grey. Many thanks and enjoy your build. CMB

Hi DaDokta, Of course, everyone has their own views on how they would like their build to look, which is all part of the pleasure of this hobby in the first place - that is to have a finished model that one is satisfied with and proud to display. However Mike's gallery enhancement is a much more accurate representation of the Victory's gallery and the windows are true to scale with the model we are building - the windows on the DeAg parts are over-size and the balustrades are also over-size. When including Mike's enhancement into the build, we would still be incorporating wood strips around the windows and frame of the gallery making up the window frames and sills. Speaking personally, I feel it would be a shame not to include Mike's full enhancement on your build, but that brings me back to what I said at the beginning, and you have to build the model in the manner that you are happiest with - 'you pays more money and you takes your choice'. Keep up the good work and happy building David

I agree with Dadokta, whilst the windows may be more in scale they look worse than De-Ag's versions as they do not follow the line of the gun decks and therefore the decks actually sitting considerably lower and due to that look really quite bizarre IMHO!

Hi David, well thats the question i was thinking about. Will there be frames and spills with Mikes`s enhancement? At least Bernd in his diary doesn`t have them. In my opinion, when adding the brass-etch parts, there`s no place left for the spills. In the PDF-instructions Mike sent me, they are not mentioned. And his own build diary doesn`t show the build. So the only way to see the end-result by now - as far as i know - is Bernds build. Further comments are welcome, cause I´m not settled 100% yet :) Greetings, Walter

Ok so this is my point, whilst I love the detail in mikes enhancement, I do think the quality is great, this is my big downfall to it (Sorry Bernd, this is no reflection on your build as it is second to none - just amazing in the pics!) But as in the pic below, the red lines follow the deck lines as per the gun ports and the yellow lines follow what would be the deck lines in the gallery enhancement and they are just to far out and I think your eyesight is drawn to the fact that by a long way they do not match up, the gallery enhancement sets them alot lower and the angles of them are a long way out.

Hi Walter please phone me, I would like to explain how the side Galleries should be fitted, and it is easier in voice communication to go through this. My Tutorial of how to fit the entire Gallery Enhancement starts on Monday.(I have emailed you my help line number) Best wishes Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
