I've always just brushed it on, over decals, under them, whatever. Apply it a bit heavier than you would with paint. Don't worry about brush marks - they will flatten out in seconds anyway. Touch dry in 5, fully dry in 15 - 20. Great stuff, but not 'mirror' gloss . More somewhere between satin and mirror, but a very realistic look. If you ever have slightly foggy kit glazing - windscreens etc, just paint Klear on - the windows will become 'klear'!

Diaphram compressor is better for an airbrush as the airflow is constant. A piston compressor will give air in short 'pulses' as the piston pumps it through. Piston comps also tend to be FAR more noisy. They are still perfectly ok for airbrushes though. I have a piston comp (about 35 years old) and I've used it for illustrating books, painting, and model cars but I stand it underneath a heavily insulated box to cut down the noise! Modern ones are far quieter though. I've got 2 airbrushes - an ancient 'EFBE' (a bit of a 'Rolls Royce nowadays) and a DeVilbiss Aerograph - another ancient but superb machine. Get the best you can afford - it will be worth it in the long run.

The water trap is great - it's a MUST! Compressors create a lot of condensation which 'spits' out every so ofter. The water trap stops it reaching the airbrush. Without it, just as you get toward the end of that 'perfect' paint job, a great blob of water splodges out onto your bodywork, wrecking the wet paint. The air on demand bit is normal. It's often used in 'dual action' airbrush terminology. It means that when you press the trigger DOWN, the air starts to flow. but NO paint. The more you press, the more air. THEN, at the same time, pull the trigger BACK, and you get paint. (hence dual action) This gives you the greatest control over air/paint mixture. The better airbrushes are dual action. Sounds like a nice bit of kit.
Have fun!
Roy.

Don't get sucked in by high-price modelling websites that sell this stuff in small bottles as big prices. It's available as Asda, Tesco's, Sainsbury, Morrisons, even in most 'pound' shops. Keep your peepers open - you'll find it easily enough. It's NOT rare, or hard to get. Roy.

I thought I'd bump this thread as I am getting to the point where I am going to need some Klear and I asked the wife to get some while shopping and she phoned me with a choice of three. Took me a while to find this thread with the pic of what I need.
