Hi chaps
I don't fancy all this balsa filling, but you chaps know best!
What are the dimensions of the planks please?
How many plank layers are there?
What week number does the planking start
Thanks a lot

Bob Bob, Mr T advised earlier that: Indeed the model is double planked, the first layer being of 2 x 5mm bamboo which starts at issue 17, with the planking of the gallery and the first hull plank laid, and the second layer being a 1.5 x 5mm Sapele veneer plank. As for the balsa infills, not something you have to do but I would advise at least doing the bow and stern sections. It will make fairing the hull and planking a lot easier. Hope this helps. Alan

Balsa infill's are an aid to construction, they are not a necessity and the model can be constructed without infill's.
Hull planking starts at Issue 17.
There is indeed a second layer of hull plank which is sapele veneer, though at this stage it is unclear if the sapele is used just for the upper half of the hull rather than all of the hull, and that possibly a lighter wood will be used to veneer the lower half of the hull, (because of the lower half being white painted). I will of course update as soon this this becomes clear.

I have read it bends very well but is not the easiest wood to sand.... No doubt we will find out soon enough..... Alan
