I decided that as I was new to a build of this level not to incorporate the cutaway section in my build so this has left me with some spare canon.

Rather than waste them and as the hammock holders are driving me MAD I felt it was time for something slightly different. I had intended to use the spares with a stand alone gun deck using the parts due (Sometime) in issue 120, but the delay sent me in another direction.

I have made a cutout version of part of the quarterdeck. I am pleased with the results and will make a small display case, mainly so that she who must be obeyed does not have to dust.

Most of the build came from pieces of decking etc left over, there seem to be a lot hope I have not missed anything. The steps, rammers, worms and buckets are all my own.

Pictures attached and as usual any constructive criticism is wellcombe

That's a lovely piece of work Gil, I've got a similar (but smaller) one planned for the future using my single 12lb-er from issue 1. As I'm building in 1/100 scale its more like a 68lb-er and might look a little er 'excessive'! BigGrin
Are you going to 'crew 'em up' in the future?

Happy building!

Nice work Gil Cool

Have you thought about adding a few figurines, certainly there is an additional content of figurines in the Cutaway pack which is on the way..

This is precisely the sort of thing I have been planning to do with my crew and cut-out parts!
10/10 for the vignette, I will have to copy that scene when I get round to it. I have a peice of oak to form a base from when I get round to doing something like this. As you have now presented a prototype, I have a feeling that others will now show their hand and present their works of art???
All the best, Steve..Drool

Fantastic work Gil, its a credit to you, and just show's what can be achieved with a little thought and care. Your 'vignette' is absolutely top notch BigGrin

The idea's are flowing now are they not ladies and gentlemen, I absolutely love this forum, there are so many things I like about it, from the idea's to the camaraderie, the shared purpose and friendship we all share.

All the new kits that are coming out soon, and the forum is going from strength to strength, and more members arrive every day that hear the call. Yes these are exciting times to be a DeAgostini Model Space member, and I am so glad to be part of it.

And lets give a big thank you to DeAgostini who put such a lot of hard work and effort into designing and producing the kits that we all enjoy building.

And last but not least, to you Mr T, for your excellent build diaries and helping the newbies and not so newbies with your excellent insight and timely information. BigGrin
