OK, so I also have to ask an easy question: Everybody knows the Willy´s MB, normally called "Jeep". Who was the first person, which makes the name "Jeep" public and where did this happened? Best regards, Bernd

Hello Bernd,
The same question was asked a few months ago on another forum that I am on!!
Was it Irving "Red" Hausmann, a 'Willys' development team test driver who was demonstrating the prototype vehicle at a press event in Washington DC, in 1941?

Thankyou Bernd and ... WOW ... you own a real Willys Jeep?? Oh you are a lucky boy!!
My Question:
I was first put into mass production in August 1944.
I was powered by a Maybach HL230 P30 V-12 Liquid-Cooled engine.
My main armament was a Type 43 L71 88mm high velocity gun and I was also equipped with two 7.92mm machine guns.
I was 6.4metres long, 3.75 metres wide and 3.09 metres high.
I weighed 77 tonnes and had a crew of 5.
What am I?

Most of the tanks were built at the Oldbury Carriage Works. Albright and Wilson produced TNT in a new Government factory erected for the purpose. Roger the Cabin Boy

Was it the Metropolitan Carriage Company in Saltley? They could move the tanks onto the railway from the factory. Roger the Cabin Boy
|
|
|
Correct they had there own railway link to the mainline system so the tanks could be covered up/disguised before transit. One other point to add is the gun sponsons were not attached to the tanks during transit as the 1st tunnel/bridge they encountered would rip them off regards and well done Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Glen, could I just politely remind you that it is your responsibility to set the next question since you have correctly answered the previous one??
If you post a question, or indeed an answer in the quiz then you need to check back within 48 hours to see the outcome, otherwise you are just keeping people waiting. If there is no response from you within a further 24 hours then as overseer of the quiz I will have to set another question on your behalf in order to keep the quiz flowing and you will lose your chance, as is stated in the 'Rules of the Quiz' in post #1??
Sorry, if I am appearing to be pushy, it is not my intention but I DO have to remind you, since if we don't keep the quiz flowing it will tend to stagnate and then people will lose interest, which would be a shame for the forum??
I hope you understand??
Kev
