Great job Andy and a very nice model, though it does look a bit odd with no aircraft on an aircraft carrier?? I understand what you mean about struggling with the diminutive size of the aircraft and the fact that you are leaving them out for now, but if and when you get some better optical instruments to work with, then it would definitely change the whole appearance of the model with some Zeros, etc, on board!!

A nice build nonetheless Andy, just adding my thoughts? BigGrin

Hi Andy,

Are you planning to put her in a water scene?

Perhaps listing after being attacked, I presume that because she was not finished she had no aircraft?

Would solve your problem re their small size, just a thoughtLove

BigGrin Thanks to both Ger C and Kev for your comments,I think i will be adding a water scene /base to the model but this will be before she recieved the torepedo hits, maybe the runs of the torpedos aproaching in the water may be the way to go.
The aircraft included in the kit are the designated aircraft that were to be attached the Shinano but they had not been assigned to the ship when she took her maiden and final voyage.I think also that although she had all her guns and rocket launchers fitted there was not a full compliment of amunition on board and she was being moved to a safer harbour to be finaly fitted out with aircraft ect. Also it should be noted not all the water tight doors had been compleated which did not help in the attempts to save her, this was also hindered by the mixed crew of naval and civilians but she did sail for another 35 miles after the initial attack before turning turtle so quite an accolade to the design of the hulls, her sister ships Yamato and Mushashi each took over 10 hits each with torpedos and several bomb hits before finally sinking. As a foot note i read somewhere that the Americans were very suprised that all the above ships could take massive amounts of damage and still be a threat fighting to the last and the enourmouse relief when they were all sunk.
Again thank you both for your kind words/comments they are always appreciated
Regards
