Continue with the launch and fitted the keel, found it tricky where first attempt was simply awful... keel ended up lying to one side and had to be removed. Second attempt was much better....

Cut all the 2nd deck parts from the frame and got to work cleaning all the black ash off. Dry fitted the deck to the old girl and again found it a tight fit, very slight loosening off and happy to say everything lined up nicely... Also think I should point out that although the deck was a tight fit there was no movement in any of the ribs when dry fitting... I just didn't like such a tight fit and didn't want to see any stress being applied to any rib.... Better safe that sorry I thought....Blink Blink

Notice I have turned the decks upside down... didn't want to see the part numbers showing on top of the deck... not sure whether the part numbers would be visible or not but wanted to make sure they could not be seen.... Tomorrow I will get to work and glue the 2nd deck in place...... Happy building all......

Tonight I started by cutting off the excess support beam overhanging rib 26, cut with a razor saw and sanded smooth.... Glued the stern sections of the 2nd deck into place, holding secure with some small bulldog clips until the PVA set.... also cut 6mm beech dowel, put in place to ensure the mast holes lined up....

Moved onto the ships launch, cut 2 x 1mm strips from the planking strips left from previous issues and following the measurements set out in the magazine fitted rubbing strips to the hull using superglue... Once dried tapered the ends of the strips using very fine sandpaper, grade 360.... Cool

Started tonight with the fitting and gluing of the centre sections of the 2nd deck.... weighted the whole lot down until the PVA cured. Also used a 9mm dowel to ensure the mast holes lined up, would have used 10mm but didn't have any....Cool Cool
