Morning Guys,

I appologize upfront if this has been discussed before but i need your advise. I have attached the gearbox plate to the engine block as described in issue 23. I have also assembled the gearbox halves the axles the top and all the required suspension arm stays. My question is that the attached gear box assembly moves up and down plus minus 3 to 4 mm. Is this correct?

Perfectly normal to allow any adjustments when attaching to the floor pan..

Hello Tags and welcome to the forum.

The play that you mention is meant to be there as it gives a bit of leeway for when you come to fit the engine/gearbox to the main undertray much later on in the build. Since each person builds their model slightly differently, even though they are supposed to be essentially the same, that small amount of play is necessary to allow for differences between builds when fitting later parts. If the assembly was rigid you might find that when you come to fit the assembly on to the undertray that it won't 'sit down' snugly and you'll have a gap between the two!! You will also have a gearbox cowl to fit on each side at some point in the build and that needs to be attached to the gearbox initially and then when you fit the engine/gearbox to the undertray, the bottom edge of each cowl will need to sit in a locating ridge on the undertray, which again might be out of sync if the whole thing was rigid?

It will all be perfectly tight when it is fitted, so don't worry about it my friend, it is normal and mine was the same, as was most other peoples' unless they glued it tight, thinking it shouldn't be loose like that. In which case they had created a problem for themselves later on!! LOL LOL Blink Blushing

Hope that helps?

Yes it's fine as Kev and spencer stated. I thought I'd made a **** up somewhere so I put abs adhesive on the parts I thought should sit snug! Although a mistake I luckily got away with it and everything still lined up! (Phew!!!!)

Go on.......glue it! I dare ya!! Haha.
If at first you don't succeed........skydiving is not for you!
