This will be my offical build thread to the mammoth task ahead of me The conversion of the MP4/23 into the BGP001  As some of you know I bought an abandoned attempt off ebay for £109.00 It had most of the work done and was upto issue 61 The build was a valiant attempt, but there were quite a few errors, glue spills, finger print smears, incorrectly installed parts and so on This is why I'm guessing they gave up and decided to sell up I wasnt bothered by this as ive got alot of sanding, shaping, moulding, filling and spraying so most of these errors would come out in the wash So, without further ado.... Progress pics below! pic 1. finished kit against new project pic 2. dismantled pic 3. floor alteration pic 4. part correction pic 5. sanding commencement I've order all the issues I need to complete the body at this stage, once they have come through I will then be making another batch of progress pics Heinzy attached the following image(s):

You've got a lot of work ahead mate Looking forward to more progress pics too.. On another note i was looking at some sort of high dencity foam that can be sanded and moulded to just about any shape. As soon as I find some good links and video I'll let you know. Was thinking it being like when you see the clay modellers making full sized cars for The Frankfurt show etc Spencer

I'll have a look at my local to see if they do it and have a go.. (modelshop not Pub) lol

Mini update No major progress in the way of an actual transformation yet, just getting things in place ready for my christmas shut down period That should be when I hit it hard Pics fairly self explanitory, big delivery, shell construction, rear wing prep for resize, side wing removal prep, and lined up next to each other What I plan to do is contstruct the entire outer shell to make most of the amendments as I think it will be easier and clearer to do while its as one Hopefully it makes sense! Sorry no, I only ordered the parts that we're relevant to the remodel, so no decal sets I'm affraid There's been very little in the way of progress as you can imagine with the previous 2 weeks! But my better half is off to Scotland soon with our little'n for a week, terrible I know, expect some major updates then

MAJOR UPDATE TIME!!!!! Well I say major update time, it still looks mostly like the MP4/23 but I have been busy! While the wife and little'n have been away, I've been cutting, sanding, spraying, molding, shaping, glueing, organising, deliberating, planing, thinking, umming and erring! Below are mostly self explanitory photos of the progress, there are alot of photos so I apoloise if I crash the internet Quick run down though, smoothed the grooves off of the tires, cut the wings from the side engine cowls, sprayed the gear box and engine covers, cut the fixing points off of the side pods, underside of nose, chassis, rear tail light cover, adjsuted the angle on the induction pod cover, removed the "buldge" from the cockpit, started to shape the new nose cone from balsa foam (thanks warty)started the basic elements for the front and rear wing, sprayed the alloys silver,and basically started to put the main bulk of the build together The finished artical will have all it's panels glued in place, so there'll be no engine inspections or accessing the gearbox, this will be purely for show Heinzy attached the following image(s):

Just a little bit of work this weekend first session of filling and sanding quite pleased with the general shape so far, might get the first primer coat on it one night this week That'll highlight any areas that require more filling!! Heinzy attached the following image(s):

Looking good so far Heinzy and a lot of work but you are getting there my friend and it should look awesome when it's finished. Well done for taking it on!!

Another quick blast at the weekend Was given a free pass out to the workshop so carried on with the filler and sanding, even managed the first couple of coats of filler primer "Slicked" another tire too, these puppies do take a while to smooth off, but the results do look amazing I've also stared to mock up the rear diffuser too, I'm trying to work out the best way to do it so at the moment I've mocked up the back plate and put a couple of supports in for when I start shaping the sheet plastic Any suggetions though would be greatly appreciated Another thing I've only just discovered is sanding foam!!! It's amazing, a foam pad with sand paper on one side, it really has helped no end as it's so easy to use, and brilliant on the curves pics below! Heinzy attached the following image(s):

The build is coming along very slowly, but thats the downside to being out of the house for 12 hours of the day! Just some more sanding, although now I'm sanding down the filler primer, the yellow dust makes me look joundice! Albeit it's taking its time, I'm very pleased with how its going It may look rough in the dodgy pics, but the body work is as smooth as you like! Hopefully will have a few parts ready for their white primer and undercoat at the weekend Heinzy attached the following image(s):
