Hi, Did some work on the launch, filling the oar slots with a square profile file. Gently formed each slot after measuring a 2mm depth. Followed Mr. T's positions for the slots rather than measure them as per the magazine measurements. Mainly because I was not sure if the 26mm from the tip of the bow was 26mm diagonally across or 26mm from the bow tip around the lip of the top. Result shown in the photo. Also working on: SOTS. Next I cut the thwart supports to 82mm. I used a piece of planking with a line drawn 4mm from the end and used this to mark the 4mm depth that the thwart supports need to be placed. These were then glued into position as shown in the photo. Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Lastly I cut the 1mm strips for the the hull rubbing strips, measured the positions where to locate them and glued them into position. once the glue had dried, I gentled sanded them into shape. I did these last, as I did not want to damage them cutting the oar slots and putting the thwarts in place. Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Hi Karl, I don't mind at all. As they say 'Give teachings to a wise man and he shall become wiser!' There appears to be a lot of shipping words for the construction that 'us newbies' have not come across before. I suppose the term my other half uses a lot would not help. Glue the thingy to the side of the launch. Claret Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Looking really good, I've always found the ships boats one of the trickiest parts of the build.

Hi, Received the next deck this week. I then cut and sanded the gun support beams that protruded at the back of the ship. Added the next deck on top of the beam supports without any problems. Dry fitted the parts first, no issues, only had to sand the burnt ash around the edges. Used liquid filled vessels as weights to ensure the deck sat on the supports correctly. This concludes this part of the assembly. Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Hi, Raced forward a little from Mr. T's build and painted the launch. I used the same colours, humbrol RC417 (Ivory) and RC418 (Browny/red). they are railway colours so have different descriptions. Carriage roof of white and EWS Red respectively. Launch was primed first, white for the outside and grey for the inside. results as follows: Thats it for a week or so. I am not allowed to take the model on holiday with me Claret. Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.

Hi All, Back from a weeks sunning on the Red Sea coast and getting back into my model. Had a long hard think whilst away and decided to restart the build. The front end from rib former 13 is slightly bent to one side, as can be seen in the pic. The middle joint of the two front deck sections veer to the port side. It may be okay to continue and start planking, but I want it right. drastic I know, but I have learnt a lot from the build so far. I will probably leave the balsa infill out this time. I have started on the stern assembly from the parts received in issue 15. The burnt ash edges were sanded and assembled as per the magazine instructions. The 2 brackets 34 were glued to the stern lower deck after dry fitting and then glued to the frame 27. the central struts 43 were dry fitted, and glued into place with stern upper deck, clamped and left to set. The 2 rear struts were glued into place and clamped. All the fits were tight, and i did not need to add an extra bit of wood in the joints on the stern upper deck and the 2 rear struts. This assembly then put to one side. Also working on: SOTS. Moebius 1/32 Flying Sub with PE & lights.
