Hi chaps
How many of us will be painting the outer surfaces of the decks a stringers?
I don`t comprehend the consequences at the moment
Any comments are welcome

hi Bob, If I've understood your point correctly, the stringers are painted black so you won't be able to see bare wood through the open gun ports and past the dummy cannon barrels.

Finally painted the lower deck areas  I`ve still retained the beam protrusions which are supposed to be cut off, round about now. They look too good to cut off? Bob

You will discover that you will need to cut flush the gun support beam overhang by the time you get to issue 16, as a half frame sit's between frames 26/27 in direct path of the beam overhang, hence why the beam overhgang is cut flush.

Possibly passing through the half frames or butt up to one side of them...though not quite sure why you would want to retain them, when the deck extension piece (also in 16) is fitted from above will square frame 27.

I mean....Are you doing a build that corresponds to the current weekly issues, so that you are aware of what problems, we want talk about?
For instance....the protruding beams that I hope to retain?

Yes Bob, hence why I highlighted this.
If the build is followed as per the magazine steps, then there shouldn't be much to be concerned with bar the odd hiccup, as the build steps are generated by the kit manufactuer (Artesania Latina) and is how the build is intended, though builders are free to deviate from the intended build if they choose, but should any deviation cause problem later on, it would then be down to the builder to put right.
Builders should be wary about pre-empting partwork builds unless they are very sure of how any deviation might interact with what may follow possibly much later on. Even I can only see so far ahead, and it does not always follow that what you might see in another country has the same sequence in the UK.

Bob have you ever actually looked at the official build  every build that tomick does is exactly step by step as per the magazines. tom is not allowed to deviate from the magazine build, no matter if he feels it could be done differently, or better. if there is a mistake in the magazine regarding errors in measurements given, or if the magazine does not show a step in enough detail then these are highlighted by tomick. he does get to see what is coming slightly ahead of us but he can't say what is going to happen in week 94 for example. so as far as protruding beams goes, if the magazine says cut them off, then tomick will cut them off, as that is what the magazine tells us and him to do. i can only assume that whoever designed the kit and the build sequence had a good reason for cutting off the beams, such as, in order to keep the cost down then the wood supplied was bought at a particular length. True, nothing showing for 16 as 15 does not go on sale until Weds this week, where 16 will follow a few days after but before it is due to go on sale next week!
