Looking good there G, I've only ever built one ship's boat and that was for my brother's DelPrado Bounty, fiddly little things! Judging by your weights are you getting ready to get snowed in?BigGrin

Continued work on the ships launch. First marked out the slots for the oars, 2x2mm. Didn't exactly follow the mags instructions in relation to their positioning but it's very close, didnt' want the slots cutting into any of ribs as shown in the mag.... may regret it later but will wait and see....Mellow

Moved on to cutting out the slots for the oars using a very fine square file and a great deal of patience.... just so happens the file is 2x2mm square.... success I think...Cool

On trying to fit the thwart supports found a steel rule a little on the large side. Using a scrap piece of planking I made a mark 4mm from the end, my mini template.. With this I made marks 4mm down from from the rim of the launch....

Trying to foresee how much of the 2nd deck will be visible as I want to plank any area that can be seen... Have now ordered Tanganyka strips from CMB, 1x4mm as I really like the look of decks using this wood... If the strips are not all used in the end then I know they will be used on my Victory build, when I eventually get started on that one.... Cool Cool

Continued working on the ships launch... Although I am happy with my first attempt at this I don't feel it is quite good enough to go for the natural or stain finish so have decided to paint it..... Tonight gave it 2 coats of white primer...... Next step will be to give it another fine sand and it will be ready for the top coat.....Cool Cool

Am giving a lot of consideration to cutting and framing the gun ports as we progress with the planking... Wonder if Mr T can tell us the size of the gun ports before and after lining.... Would help with the planning.. realise the location of the ports will not be known until we get to that phase of the build......Cool
