Recently subscribed to the Yamato, and decided to get some of the paint required. Received package today, all the right colour, however noticed the spray cans say for plastics. The primer does state for metal, but will the spray paint be suitable, thanks in advance, Steve

BigGrin Hi Sjd77
as long as you use a good primer, I use Halfords filler/primer on my Yamato but any good primer is fine as long as your primer is water based like the paint as petrolium based primers and acrylics can react sometimes when mixed together. The only down side with the spray cans is there capacity I found that you can just about cover the hull with 2/3 coats max then its another can to buy.Thats why I got the airbrush as I find theres better coverage with the Tamiya paint pots when thinned down.I also noticed the spray cans dry slightly darker than the pots but this isn't really that noticeably.Hope this helps

Hi Sjd77BigGrin
I used "Mr.SURFACER 500" from GSI Creos for my Yamato and Akagi. This is for not only plastic but also wood and metal. No change has been observed on my Yamato for 6 years.
They sell Mr.SURFACER 1000 that is finer than 500. Since too smooth surface looks like plastic, I think No.500 surfacer is suitable for war ship models.Cool
Best Regards,
Yutaro
