hi mike,interesting thoughts,ref:-white? as the hull was white why the doubt,I can only presume that white was not available at that time?wrong mate,the captain and bosun used what was available at the time from the ships or shore store,as the launch was the dog's body used for many tasks,and would have been painted many times,the paints that were available at that time is a little obscure.black,yellow ochre,red ochre,olive,french blue and WHITE,as they include the primary colours any colour could be made up.the royal navy at that time were sticklers for shipshape and bristol fashion so painting in general was done on a daily basis.which gives you an artiste lincence to do what you please.

I have painted my launch as the magazine and Mr T suggests.
I have however, ordered another issue that contains the launch parts, and am going to build another launch and stain and varnish it. I'll just then use whichever I think looks best.
For an extra £5.99, its well worth it.
