Did some work around painting the launch using Humbrol RC417 and RC418 as recommended by Mr T. Am fairly happy with the results but know it could be better but that would require the use of an airbrush rather than paintbrushes...... Hope Santa is listening.....LOL LOL... A little investment is needed I thinks....

Hi Alan!
In my eyes the red seems to be a little bit too dark (the light for the photo may be the reason). But: a good work!

Thanks for commenting Bernd.... the light does give a horrible shine, it is actually not as dark a red as it looks.... still I can live with it for a first attempt.... still think I need an airbrush....Cool

Planned out the planking for the 2nd deck. First thing I did was to cut a length of Tanganyka (1x4mm)strip to the length of the deck, this worked out to be 570mm. 570mm gave me 4 equal lengths of decking of 141mm. Divided the 141mm by 3 gave me a measurement of 47mm.

Marked out my 570mm strip into 4 lengths of 141. In each 141mm length I made further marks each of 47mm. This acted as my template. Layed the template along the deck and drew lines across each 47mm apart.

Deck now marked out and have started cutting the planks into 141mm lengths... Am not sure if it is quite to scale, if not then hoping some of the more experienced modellers out there will point out where I have gone wrong... Don't think I am too far out though....Cool Cool

None of the planks in the final pic have been glued down yet... need to clean them up a little first but will do that when I have a quantity of planks cut...

Hi Andy, yes I am but thinking whether to use a black marker (not my favourite idea due to potential weeping), use black .25mm rigging thread between the planks or to try staining the edges darker.... Think I am favouring the thread idea, less chance of a disaster that way....BigGrin

Black paper works well, you can sand or scrape any excess off after the glue has dried. Thread is far too fiddly for me and as you say, ink leaches and this can be quite variable depending on the individual grain of the plank.
Treenails look really good at the butt joints, if you can get them right.
Have funBigGrin
