ISSUE 11 BUILD

I sanded the edges of the decking, and followed the build instructions, plus Mr T`s official build and fitted the deck.

I had pins available so I used them I would not fit decks without the pins anyway.

Because I was careful with my measurements when I fitted the Balsa infills the decks went down without any trimming.

I used the correct size dowel to imitate the Mast, so it was an exact fit.:-

Hi mike,
Sorry this is a bit behind the times but part delivery times not goodCursing .
I have had to make very minor adjustments to the rib slots on the first deck and then to the mast holes. Do the masts get supported by these decks or does the rigging give the masts their main stability.
Your ideas on this would be gratefully accepted.

Delboy

Hi Team,

I am back after the Festive break.

I have not been happy with the shape of the lower hull stern, and after carefull investigation I have modified this section of the Hull.
I realise there are no real plans and it is left to interpretation, but if you look at the poster we received there is a photo of the doner ship with the shape of the hull stern more in keeping with how I believe it should be, if you look at the photo of the ship in the centre of the poster, I believe the hull stern is too shallow, and would not have displaced the water to support the weight of such a heavy ornate rear hull.

I have studied lots of pictures of ships of this period and come up with a modification that I am happy with therefore it is my interpretation. The planking when it reaches the rear will in my opinion connect with the stern of the ship far more realistically than before the modification,I will also be extending my side planking past where it is shown in the instructions in order to achieve the arch feature at the stern of the ship.

More to come

Best wishes
Mike

I will be posting photos of my mod, for those of you who are interested from and including ISSUE 16

Mike, I don't know how you do it!Confused Confused Confused
By my count you have 14 ongoing and uncompleted builds with extensive build diaries and I notice you've been putting your hand up for all the new DeAg models coming out this year. Not only that, but you add loads of extras and modifications to all your builds. I assumed you were retired with a lot of time on your hands.
Now, I can only assume you do not sleep at allLOLLOL
Two models at once is really one more than I can find time for and run my business.

ISSUES 16 and 17

Hi Team, I have combined 16/17 together for ease.

I have followed the intructions in the magazine and kept abreast of MR T`s official build, where I have deviated from the plan is to again fit balsa infills and then Modified the stern hull.

The photos should tell the story:-

ISSUE 16 and 17

Its time to do the rear planking, I have ditched the bamboo planking in favour of lime wood, I bevelled all the edges so that the planks would all sit together correctly:-
