Hi Alan, I am still waiting for them to be delivered. Ordered on the 20th Dec. Confirmed despatch on the 28th Dec. Nothing yet. Very disappointed with the service. Emails take about a week for a reply!! I have been working a lot on the launch to keep busy, peeking at the italian build instructions to progress. Also, added a few planks to the back assembly while it is not stock to the false keel. That eas good fun and can not wait to get going on the planking. Regards Claret Also working on:

A little more progress on the planking tonight.... am hoping I will be able to tackle the garboard plank during the weekend. Haven't trimmed the stern as yet as I think I have got the stern profile a little wrong and will need to take some corrective action to finish it off... hopefully again will tackle that this weekend.... other than that all appears to be going quite smoothly.... When I looked at your first photo, I thought Blimey he's working outside, in Scotland!!, in January!!! That profile at the back is tricky, I cut mine as I planked as I couldn't see what angle to take off the former. Looking good though

Some would call me mad at times but not that mad I'm afraid..  . Regarding the stern section, I think I have taken off just a little to much on the top section and will need to build it up a little... I don't see it as being a major problem just a minor inconvenience... am sure it will work out ok..... Thanks again..... Regards Alan

Now got to the stage of tapering the first planks.... started the taper from rib 5 and tapered down to half the width of the plank... Used a Rolson mini plane, excellent tool... These came as a set of three available through Amazon and very reasonably priced..... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Cute little planes, the only trouble is I've never managed to successfully sharpen a plane blade  . Even though I watched my Grandad do it many times, he even took the sharpening burr off with his bare hand at lightening speed. I use a David Plane which has replaceable blades.

the david plane is a rare find but cmb have an equivalent type with replaceable blades.
