Looking great & brilliant finish acheived without an airbrush.

Wish I could complete my builds so quickly.

Further news from the Sherman front. Build now complete, but still with some detail painting to do...

I used artistic licence to place the accessories, mixed up a kind of khaki colour for the knap-sacks and ammo pouches, followed by dry brushing them with a raw umber and thinner mix.....i also applied this to the whole tank, and wiped it off with some tissue and my fingers. I also used a sludgy coloured wash of a mixture of olive drab 2, flat earth and flat black, sloshed this over corners and raised parts of the tank, and again wiped it off with tissue and my fingers!!

I still have the tools to paint, plus the gun on the turret, plus the tanks own gun barrels. The tracks also need some painting although im still looking at ways to do this as there are so many! Same goes for the tracks i placed 'welded' to the turrent and front of the tank. Also the spare wheels need some flat black/gun metal as do the oil drums.

So far so good, im really pleased how its turned out. Its got a lovely oily sort of look which negated my fears it was always too dark. I do need to get some buff to streak the sides as well i think, that may lighten things a little.

I also suprised myself at my quality of brush painting of the accessories and bags/sacks, i did them all whilst on the tank, not on the sprues, despite the mess i often used to make of such tiny things years ago...! I think, blowing my own trumpet, ive done rather well. I know its not airbrush quality but as i mentioned i dont have one.....yet. BigGrin
