Hi, Does anyone know how to remove decals that have fully set without damaging the surface. A couple are damaged & I've ordered replacements. Thanks.Stu

Hi Stu,

You should be able to use Micro Sol to remove them.. use a small flat brush to get under the decal and use the solution underneath until it comes away.
I also think there is another solution that you can get that works in the same way but will destroy the decal but in this case that dose'nt matter if you've got replacements.

To be honest I've never tried to remove decals! The only way I could think of is to soak the part overnight in water which might perhaps soften the glue enough to remove it.
Other than that possibly surround the decal with masking tape and use very fine wet and dry (used wet) to gently sand it away.
If the first decal is just 'damaged' could you simply put the replacement on top of it?

Sorry can't be of more help.

Ah! Warthog's probably got a better answer!

Thanks guys, I don't have Microsol but I do have Revell Decal softner. I will give it ago & see. If I can't remove them I may just take your advice & place the new decal over the old. Cheers.

I had masked some of my suspension parts once when I was doing applying some silver lines. When I took the masking tape off the carbon decals came off with it!! Cursing might be worth a try maybe?? Lol.
If at first you don't succeed........skydiving is not for you!

Thanks Scott, I'm willing to try anything & since I've got replacements decals coming I don't mind damaging the old ones. Thanks again. Stu
