Hi New to this wooden boat building and keen to learn, I've been looking at ways of making the various bits of brass work ( for example the eylets and trunion caps on the cannons)look realistic. I'm considering using "AK burnishing fluid". As far as I tell its designed for use for blacking or ageing white metal bits. My question is has anyone used it on brass ? And any opinions on it or other possible alternatives ?

Hi Slowboat, there is an interesting thread in the Model Making Know How section covering the very subject of blackening brass and other metals. Would suggest you have a look and hopefully it will answer most of your questions. I use Blacken-it available on Ebay.... Here is the link http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=5468
Hope this helps. Regards Alan
