FITTING THE GARDBOARD PLANKS. Hi Team, I think the instructions are very lacking in certain areas, particularly with the fitting of the Gardboard planks, these are very important pieces of timber and in my opinion should be fitted first, that way you know your keel is straight and true plus fitted now the keel will keep its shape and not move. As I am using 1 metre length lime wood planks,(and thrown all the bamboo in the skip) I must first cut two to size, and as I am going to need the plank to twist at the keel stern, and bend with a slight twist at the bow, I must soak for 30 mins both ends of the plank this is how I did it:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

FITTING THE GARDBOARD PLANKS I recommend drilling the planks at the point the pins will enter the hull this prevents wood splitting and putting pins in the wrong place. FITTING THE GARDBOARD PLANKS Well thats all this time Team, I will be taking my time in planking around the deck until more of the stern upper structure is supplied, in case I have to make more modifictions. When the planks have dried out naturally (I do not like to use electric plank benders)I will fit the planks with the adhesive. Good tutorial Mike.Hope you don't mind but I would like to ask about something in your pictures.It may be me or a visual effect butwhat would be the portside bow section seems to be stepped away from the rest of the hull,it's almost as if you faired the main hull & then added the bow section.As I said it may just be me or an optical illusion so please don't take offence at my observion. It is the way the photograph is taken, the balsa infil on the bow is higher than the infill on the sides (because of the gun port height)I have added a photo which I previously posted on my build log, it shows the difference. FITTING THE GARDBOARD PLANKS Hi Team continuing the fitting of two planks either side of the base of the hull. I used hot water to get the twist so the plank would fit properly where it enters the keel area, and at the bow.
