What am i?
Im a british aircraft of which not many of me where built, although i did prove popular at the time. One fatal crash caused national headlines, another crash involved another airliner which would later go on to have one of the deadliest crashes in the UK.
I was soon eclipsed by Jets and just one of me survives today.

I think you are the Airspeed Ambassador,you made national headlines as you were carrying "Busby's Babes" in the Munich Air Disaster,you crashed at Heathrow damaging a Hawker Siddley Trident,writing another one off & killing horses & grooms you were carrying.The aircraft you damaged was in a fatal crash during take off from Heathrow,all 118 people on board were killed. I was built in 1949 in Bristol,only 1 of me was completed & 1 part finished.I made 1 flight & was then scrapped.I had 8 engines & could only carry 100 passengers despite being the size of a 767,all the research & development cost £6m. Since Denissimo doesn't seem to have checked back on any answers to the question he set over two weeks ago and as overseer of the quizzes, I have researched Robs' answer to the question and found it to be correct!! Therefore, Rob, the next question is yours mate - well done!!
Interestingly, it would appear that Major Streibs' score of five kills was achieved on the very first operational sortie of the Heinkel He 219 though my source suggests that it was not in fact five Lancasters, but one Lancaster and four Halifaxes that he shot down??

Hello Rob,
The Rutan Voyager was the first aircraft to fly around the world without stopping or refuelling, taking 9 days 3 minutes and 44 seconds to cover a distance of 26,366 miles at an average altitude of 11,000 feet.
Quite an achievement!!!

who am I? my number designated to me was HK-1 then changed to H-4 I was six times larger than anything built before. I only flew once,how high? and how long?
