having purchased this kit at a very good price, from a dear friend,my dream of owning this version of the victory,is now complete.
looking and carrying this enormous box,I couldn't wait to open it.and what was inside was astounding, lovely ply, walnut and brasswork, and bundles of strips enough to start a shop.also a large bundle of plans, and 3 manuals.
a full set of paints by admiral,and 96 figures,and brass cannons.phewwwwwwwwwww.

as their appears to be a general interest in this diary,I will make a more detailed account and log hours as well.

these are the support beams which will some of them will need to changed as the caldercraft vicory as not got split skid beams as yet,I understand that they are working on them and will probably send out a small kit to upgrade them.as I have not registered this kit yet I'm not expecting it any time soon.

all of the bulkheads(ribs)need to have the keel slots filed out a bit,a little too tight for comfort.

these are the bow rib and transom ribs being built up.again needing filing to fit.

I wish you all the very best of luck with this build Karl! It was the review of this kit in the Model Boat magazine which dragged me back to carrying on with my DelPrado and also converting her en-route into a mini version of this kit. (I also downloaded nearly all the Jotika construction photos and their three pdf manuals from their website too! and a great help they've been as well!)BigGrin

Best of Luck again

thanks robin, glad the manuals helped, they are very comprehensive, although some aspects have surprisingly been left out.more of an oversight I think.

hi bodge m8,not a sniff of mdf,it is beech ply,and it is 6mm thick,heavy.
yes I feel VERY lucky in getting this kit at the price I got it for,and looking forward to build this kit to a high standard,at the mo. I'm wiring it up for 150 leds,so will take a couple of days.log time spent on it at 8pm tonight,is total 14hours,btw the formers keel and other bits are water jet cut,and not laser.so no charred wood.

not the neatest solder job,but it will do,Ive used orange l.e.d.s.resisted up to 12v. d.c. with a 12v. 1250m.a. transformer,at the moment.may need to change it later so the l.e.d.s. are dimmer.the first lot of leds number 60.and I chose to do it this way for cost, the resisters are 1p. each and leds are £12 per 500 from china, took 4 days to arrive, hope deag. are watching.

total build up to 9.30am. is 16 hours.

Really interesting to see you logging the hours, Karl. It will be good to work out a cost per hour of amusement for this kit.
I'm looking for justification and Wife persuading facts.
You're at £44/hour so far, at full retail priceLOL
