this is a perennial problem with eyebolts,if you go to the jotika website there shop does etch eyebolts small enough for the needs of us,they do a sheet of them with a lot of eyebolts.I've used them extensively. http://www.shipwrightsho...ull-Detail-Fittings.htmlCurrent builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hi Karl, Sorry to hijack Sandnesspeat's thread but just wanted to ask question about the brass etch eye-bolts. Visited your link and they look absolutely fine for our purposes. What size do we need to order to be close to the scale we using? Thanks David

It's all I use for my orders and they usually arrive the next day.

I might give them a phone on Monday to check that is really that much. You might be surprised to hear that this is common for the islands when the royal mail is the cheapest and they do come to the islands at normal postage costs, like £1.60 what you have quoted. Islanders lose out on a awful lot because of it. PS Just tried it again It does offer royal mail, when they see the address they may not process it because it is going to an Island,as I say might phone them on monday. cheers rob

HI all, I have come across a potential problem, I am on issue 55,when doing the deck planking I have noticed that the temporary masts seem to be leaning to one side, will I try and sort this now or what. Thanks rob

YES NOW IS THE TIME to sort it ,sorry caps on,really take your time on this one,as it is important that this is set up right, there is a slight backward slant as well,it is called "rake"make sure ship is level on all planes first, then adjust the mast hole on the deck,it will have a wooden ring around the mast, that should cover any adjustments done. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hi all, I see everybody is still doing great with their builds very impressive. I just have a question about issue 58, I have made up the cabin partitions before painting but it says about staining the bulkheads etc, I have the paints set and it has walnut paint in that, can I just use that or is that for something else, thanks rob

Hi all looks as if the dilemma with the aft mast is getting worse,as you can see from the photos the center line is off by about 5 mm , has anybody had this problem or it must be the way I have built it. The only thing I can think of to try and file the bottom of the hole with a round file to bring it reasonably upright, any suggestions would be great. could I even take off the cross plank and file it to center then make another cross plank as it will not be seen after it is planked, just a thought. getting fed up now Thanks as always rob

hi rob,it would help a lot if you could show the pics, Have you tried attaching to the post? you can edit the pic to resize 800x600 and it will show, give it a try, much easier to see, every time I click on your pics it copies them to my hard drive. and a lot of members won't bother because of this problem. if you need help just ask (about the pics) k. ok rob,the hole is def. not in the middle is it. so a bit of back tracking required, replace some deck flooring and start again, cut dead centre hole, before gluing, you might have to go lower down,to widen lower deck hole to get the mast straight. leave it any longer and will be too late to fix. good luck, and take the repair as a phase in the building. k.
