Looks the ticket in that video. Problem with mine was that it wasnt clear klear. It was milky in colour and dried with milky stains.Thought it may have been a one off bottle and got another but with the same outcome.I may have put it on too thick. Ill give it another go on some spare parts. Is it worth doing both top coating tamiya TS-13 and Klear?

If its milky in the bottle then there is something wrong with it. Mine is clear but with a very slight mist to it. I use an air brush to apply, and REALLY thin coats. Usually only one does the trick. I then apply decals and when they are dry brush Klear over the decals only. But you do not need to soak the brush, I squeeze most of it out and then apply so it is the finest film, coz it will run really quickly if too thick. Hope this helps!!

cheers Hi It can be used for the whole of the model but there needs to be a certain amount of skill involved... Please don't think I'm saying you don't have the skill to do this but unless used in the correct way, you could end up messing it up PM me if you need to ask any more Q's and I will be more than happy to help Spencer Thanks for your info Warthog, I will defo give this a go with a brush and not with an airbrush, any soft brush you could recommened ? Now if you did make a mistake, the guy on the video says to use alcohol and I was wondering what type of alcohol can be used, is isopropyl alcohol ok to use ? I am almost done making the model and I do have a really good feature to show once its complete :D I cannot wait. Thanks for your help

I have built various model aircraft and tried many ways to stop decal silvering and lifting. I personally airbrush Klear after colouring, then give it a wet n dry go over with 12000 grit pads. Then stick the decals on with Mr Mark softer and Mr mark setter(Gunze Sanjo)if japanese kit(Jap decals are thicker) or microset and sol for all others.Sometimes you do get a mikyness to where you place the decal as the Solution can sometimes melt the Klear but it dries clear again. Once dry I then 12000 grit again. Which smooths out the slight raised ness of where decals sit and removes the carrier film Then I give the whole model a coat of matt Varnish waterbased. when the paint has dried. I then weather over the Matt if I am weathering the model,Once done then I give the final coat of Klear or Matt..
Not had a problem with a decal in years with that method.
Hope that helps.

It's fine.. it goes "Klear" once applied and left to dry.. just thin coats though. No runs or puddles.. then buff etc

Then your sitting on a goldmine my friend!!! lol ebay selling original for about £25 a bottle.. Klear was discontinued around 2008 and what we have now is the new Wax.. takes a bit more to master but basically the same.. would definately prefure the Original "Klear" but not for £25 a bottle.. I could strap the missus to a poll and drag her around the floor and get better value lol Robbie.. what you have is fine.. just follow what we have been saying... unless Nem want's to take early retirement and sell you a bottle lol

mine I tell ya mine!!!!!! I stand corrected Robbie. I have never used it, but I am sure Warthog can tell you how to apply it, and me for that fact, my stash wont last forever!!!!

Hi, I still got a bottle and half of the old gear but from all I've read about the new is it smells nicer and is milky until dry also takes slightly longer to dry. Apart from that they all say its the same results.

You can still get Klear in 75ml bottles from SBX Model Shop by mail order for a few quid. Tel 01473 464311. (Ipswich) That's where I get mine and it's the OLD variety. Roy.
