Hi Guys,
I am finally up to the stage of applying the dreaded decals to my build, something I've always hated doing!
I have decided to give the MicroSol and MicroSet a try, as I think that may be why some of my other model look a bit pants, as the decals are starting to come off or not sitting properly on the model (on nose cones for example).
Anyway I have read and watched the video in the link Tomick (I think!) put up on another thread and I think I understand what to do! My question is, can the MicroSol be applied to decals which have already been stuck on? As I have started the left sidepod already (Black lines and Vodafone Logo).
Many thanks in advance!
Dave

Microsol can be applied if your thinking of removing or moving the decals but can also be used to soften them into place.. the Microset is exactly what it says.. it sets the decal to the model giving better adhesion so that they do not come off in normal conditions.. I'e in a case away from light or heat source (Radiator/Sunlight) Spence

Hi Spence, Thanks for replying. Sorry, I'm a bit confused!! This site http://www.modelcartips....ecals-and-markings.html says to put the Microset on first and then Microsol over the decal - should it be the other way around? I don't want to remove the decals I have already put on - I just wanted to do the 'latter' part of the process (The painted-on look). But wasn't sure if it needed to be done whilst the decal was still wet. Hope that makes sense? Dave

I will do the rest of the decals when the stuff arrives and follow the whole process.

They both soften and set but the Sol is better for un-even surfaces like Armour etc..

It's mainly the nose on the McLaren I'm worried about!! I have the smaller MP4-25 twin pack (Buttons first Mclaren) and the one I built the nose looks like it belongs on a 2012/13 car, where the decal hasn't moulded itself around and has come unstuck! Like I say I've only done the left sidepod so far, and it came out OK but I thought I'd give the MicroSet/Sol a go. I'll wait and do the rest using them. Thanks again for your advice, and loving your 'retro' McLaren build, can't wait to see it finished. Dave

Dave One thing I have said to a few about the decal on the DeaG McLaren nose is to cut it right down the middle.. this makes it a lot easier to handle and manipulate.. make sure you use a fresh new blade (not scissors)

I did something silly last night with the nose cone! I removed it from the car to put the 'stripes' on and now the left side is slightly higher than the main car. Is there a way to loosen it again and re posistion once it's stuck with the MicroSol and MicroSet?
Thanks in advance

Dave You should be able to manipulate it with more microsol... try to get under the end of the decal and keep wetting it with a small brush so that it starts to lift.
