Hi Martyn,
If you take a look in the member builds of the Sovereign in particular MWG`s build you will find Mike has done a pucker job on modifying the stern.
As a new builder myself I have chosen to build as per the official build until my skills improve. Mike is a very advanced builder, so the choice is up to you in the end.BigGrin

Good luck for the future of your build, whichever way you choose to go.

Hi Martyn there are many interpretations of this model ship, mainly because there are no plans of her, so there is not any right or wrong of how she is constructed, I have modified the Hull stern as per the cover of the magazine(see my SOTS build Diary)which is my interpretation of how I wish my build to be ( although I do think novice builders should follow the instructions in the magazine, and Mr T`s Official build Diary, and not attempt modifications)

I hope my explanation helps youBigGrin Kind regards Mike

MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Hi Martyn, I have to agree with the previous comments made on attempting modifications unless you really feel you have the experience and knowledge to see them through.... Although I was very very tempted to follow MWG's lead on modifying the stern I believe in my own mind I made the right decision to follow the mag and the official build... Yes I am making my own modifications but these are purely in the appearance of the build and not in the construction.... Good luck on your build....

Regards

Alan
