Staining the X-Section Options

I have completed the hold and stained it in the same stain as suggested in Mr T's diary.

I now feel it's a little dark. I realise I cannot do anything about the hold, but was wondering, would it look completely stupid to do the hold and outer rib faces in dark oak, but use a lighter stain, like medium oak for the remaining decks?

The hold would always look darker anyway, because of the lack of light down there.

I'm using Light Oak on my Decks and that's Dark enough for me.
