Hi Alan, Sorry to hear of your problem with the stain , to light is one thing, but to dark could be a stinker. As you say though, better that deck than a main visible deck. If you remember the modelling session I put together about deck planking, the main stain colour on that was a Ronseal stain called natural oak, that may give you something to gauge it by and they do a fair sized range of colours if you want to adjust lighter or darker. Good luck Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Will see what I can do with it but will be a lot happier when it is covered up.... Regards Alan

Hi Alan The thing with wood stains is they can be deceptive until tried on a large area, when testing I always use an area of 3 inches square minimum to get a better impression of its quality's. On another note have you tried Danish oil [natural finish] this darkens as you put more coats on and you can see the results before another coat is added. hope this helps regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Have to admit I only tried various colours of stain on single strakes, didn't try it on a larger surface. ... will do in the future though.. another learning point for me... . Will also give danish oil a try. At least this mishap doesn't spoil anything as it will all be covered in the end.... .. Thanks again... Regards Alan
