In the absence of a replacement brass strip (I didn't use the ones that came with my carronades, so if you need one, simply PM me with your details), otherwise, you might consider fashioning a suitable part out of styrene strip or, given your experience with wood, maybe some off-cuts.

As a last-ditch suggestion, (if you are feeling brave) you could even cut a metal bean/soup can up and use the metal from that.

You could also go to to Cornwall Model Boats and order some replacement brass strip. It isn't very expensive and it would give you some stock for future use in the project.

brass strips if you go to in store or pound land and buy picture hanging kit the small,brass brackets may do, per drilled ,cut to size with the hole where you want it , holes 1.5 mm also nice brass coated nailes which i have used in sead of brass wire with the kit

As a printer or 25 years (litho) I used alluminium plates, these are think enougth to cut, shape et. f you haa lookthought yourlocal yellow pages for Litho printers and give them a call and ask for discarded plates, you may find them useful.

Nah, they can be cleaned with white spirits and/or water, you would also be using the reverse side of the plate. For the ammount you would be using it would be negligable.

One hint pamlupo....is build up a bits box....bits or sheets of balsa and lite-ply..bits of tin or brass..pins..even bits of thread (various thickness).not huge amounts...from art shops and hobby shops...and check out e-bay (cool for bargains).....because something somewhere will go wrong..(as many of the well experienced wood ship builders have said)..and you have your box of bric-or-brack....to help sort it out....hope this helps

Get the 0.5 X3 X 500mm strip it is as close as you are going to get it is a fraction wider and thicker but you will not notice it.
