Hi Ian, first i must say, that i haven`t started my tiling yet - so i don`t know how hard it is. But i think, you should slow down a little bit with your tiling. Your tiles don`t run in a straight line, they somewhat run in a wave-like shape, which shouldn`t be. Also as i understand it, there are no stealer tiles at the bow, the lines should run upwards naturally. No offence, but take your time, don`t hurry. Greetings, Walter Greetings, Walter

Hi Walter. I am tilling my victory as close as possible to the actual copper tilling plan I have. See picture. The stealer row you mentioned in the bow was to raise the tiling angle to what I required it to be. There are going to probably be some more added around that area.and more towards the stern area as it goes upwards.the wavey pattern you mention was done by me in one of the lower rows of tiles to give the tiles the curve I required. Hope this explains what I am doing. Ian Current builds.Hachettes build the bismark,HMS Victory, HMS Hood. Finished Builds Corel HMS Victory cross section.

Hi Ian, i`m sorry but to me that makes no sense. You say you want to lay the tiles as close as possible according to the plan - when in the plan there are no stealer rows? I think the wavy pattern makes the problem even worse, because you will alway have to adjust with new stealers. I refer to page 3 of the copper-tiling instructions, which can be downloaded in the general discussion section of this forum. Here it says:"Continue each row towards the bow until there is no room for another one. Do not try to follow the keel up the stem or to taper the tiles as you did with the planking! Keep the tiles running in straight lines. This means that the rows will naturally angle up the bowI also would like to refer to buzzsaw`s build diary - as in his pictures one can see, how it should be done in my opinion (of course this doesn`t mean, that i will ever be able to achieve such a brilliant tiling!) Of course for me this is all theory as i didn`t start the tiling myself - and maybe i will then begin to understand, what you are meaning. Please don`t get me wrong - i would never say, that i can do the tiling better than you - as i have nerver done it. But i understand this forum as a platform for discussion and not only to say, everything is fine. Greetings, Walter Greetings, Walter

I used the same plan Ian and i found it much easier to lay the tiles using it. I have to say i have seen lots of different approaches to the tiling i acutely used two different methods on either side There is not always a right and wrong way as long as you are happy with your finish on your model thats all that matters. Looking good keep the pics coming J “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
