well almost up to speed with the launch. broke the last rib (at rear) sanding to get the contour right, stuck it back on, but it broke again in seperation from jig (blahh) done the planking, tapered wrong way on starboard side but did it right on port side. Its the last piece thats the hardest. i have a pic of her but dont know how to post them, (not much of a computer buff)the admins instructions are as clear as mud, and as many times i follow them i get the same result,! psgu0r KWQp[ kosg e45q qd cmxlpo3 f[sdkjf,ma

managed to post the pic but no idea how i did it,,
ok its the last plank you fit that is the hardest, on my pic its the 3rd one down from the top, it starts and finishes within the launch very fiddly, the third and forth planks are thinner to accommodate for the acute angle of the ribs at this point. I need to double up the top plank, i left this till last because of all the sanding of the hull, didn`t want to sand the sharpness out of the bottom edge. also its easier to scribe it to keel (water cutter) than to cut the keel (water cutter) round the double planking at the top. so thats my tips at this stage

The end result looks great Willz, Not a gap to be seen, and it's a very neat job.

heres a pic of the starboard side of the launch, as you can see i started to taper the planks the wrong way ( the third and fourth from the top. managed to still do a neat job but the run of the planks doesn`t look right (blahh)! just a point on the rubbing strips, when sanding they soon disappear, so caution is required on these.. ok my anchor, i decided to leave the stock in natural wood (can always paint it later if i choose). i used wood for the bands instead of the thread supplied, my first wooden built so the practice is needed. made a bigger ring out of brass wire, i puddened the ring before bending it round a pen. filed the anchor down to rid the flaws, then painted it with a black paint which had been mixed with white to take the strenth out of the black. (at this scale pure black is too stark, so although the photo looks black it is in fact far from it. then varnished it with a satin varnish, (again gloss not right for scale) still think the satin varnish is still too shiny then matt varnished the stock left to dry, masked up the four bands, now at this point i matt varnished the masking tape joint, this seals the masking tape and any bleed will be the matt varnish, If your masking the side of victory for instance the yellow from the black then paint the masking joint yellow any bleed will be of the base coat yellow and the masking tape is sealed, although you can always touch it up when using paint, with the natural wood of the stock i thought better to seal the tape File Attachment(s): anchor.jpg (318kb) downloaded 1 time(s).

Nice, tight work on the launch planking. The anchor is also very tidy - especially the neatly contoured ends Great stuff. Schnellboots on back burner
