FITTING THE GALLERY STERN PANEL Welcome back Team, when I fitted this Stern Panel to my ship I felt very emotional maybe its the months of work on the Gallery enhancement, or my Victory receiving its identity, any way who knows how or why but it was a great feeling. this time we are fitting the stern panel the side panels come later. STAGE ONE Please take your time, and make sure you achieve the fit that is acceptable to you. Please make sure you can clamp the panel easily without stress or damage. I have used Aliphatic glue, but allow it to cure for 8 to 18 hours (24 for good measure) it is twice as strong as ordinary PVA. Spread adhesive on the 2 rear deck pieces and slot the panel onto these decks(as in the photos)remember there are 2 slots at the point where the bottem of the panel comes in contact with the bottem deck, locate the panel in these. I hope the photos tell the story:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

FITTING THE GALLERY STERN PANEL STAGE TWO I have used short bars and long bars as clamps, a piece of dowel provided an anchor point. You will need to pull the corners of the panel to the shape of the decks, this is why we cut the two sets of slots, and I used 2 short bars for this job, the courners came in with no problem Next use a long bar to apply the tension to fix the panel to the sides of the ship ( you will see I added 2 pieces of wood to give a better area for fixing);- Please make sure the sides are located between the windows, I used a short bar to assist in this. STAGE THREE after 24 hours remove all clamps and review your work. I have included lots of photos of my ship proudly showing off her Stern Gallery panel:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Excellent work Mike. Adding the extra timbers for more support is a brilliant idea. I'd always thought that more support would be good, particularly the vertical join between the gallery and the quarter galleries but wasn't savvy enough to come up with a solution to it. Well done happy building David

FITTING THE GALLERY SIDE PANELS Well here we are with the next session, this is where I have fitted the gallery side panels. The first job was to take off 4mm from the top of the panels (every build will be different and will require + or - off the panels) the piece that I cut off I used as a fixing baton---I hope the photos tell the story:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

FITTING THE GALLERY SIDE PANELS Before I could fit the panels I had to second plank the area to be covered, in a way it would be easier to carry on later. I am second planking my Victory because I want to recreate the gun port recesses plus when using walnut planking( 5mm x 1mm )the grain is as close to oak you are going to get at this scale (I am still going to paint her.) What follows are photos of this second planking process:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
