Watching all the Endeavour builds as my issues are building up in a drawer. Making notes of all the problems and solutions. I need to finish my Victory before I can start with the Endeavour. Fitted the channels. What a pain in the backside. Wasn't sure of the colour, but black would look too much I think so the yellow ochre it was. Once the deadeyes and links are fitted, it should hopefully all blend in ok. Gus W attached the following image(s): Currently Building:

Been working on the longboat. Joke instructions and methods, poor design for alignment jig, and poor materials. It would be very easy for most people to have a wonky, misaligned boat! Columns supplied for the thwarts were too long and therefore cut down to size. Instructions suggest a curve to the thwarts but this applied pressure to the gunwale at the bow which has split. Making a few simple mods and will fix the gunwale next. Also fitted the lantern. The replacement caldercraft cannons and mantua anchors should arrive next week, so that will be the next job. Nice paint job again! The build looks very good also, I keep reading posts of how bad this kit is, but you seem to be making a decent job of it. IS it really as bad as some others make it out to be? have you changed anything that was part of the series or modified something because it was unuseable? Once again well done on a very nice build!! All the best, Steve..

Hi Steve Thanks for the kind words. IMHO, the kit is certainly bad, and for a newbie like me, the overall poor instructions and quality of the parts spoil a lot of the enjoyment. I don't mind challenges, but this build regularly tries my patience! I can see why people have lost interest in this particular kit and given up, or put it to one side and started something else. There are a number of forums where builds have simply dried up. I have replaced certain parts to improve on what has been provided, or more to correct the scale, such as the capstan, cannons, anchors, and swivel guns. I have added in extra detail in places and scratch built various bits, the rear transom windows being one example. Cheers Gus Currently Building:

Well progress on the Endeavour has been painfully slow, but at least better than SOtS, which has had no progress made on it whatsoever! I hit a bit of a brick wall, and found motivation lacking, with the focus on a new job some four months ago, taking priority, so no intensive evening or weekend sessions to push the build on. That said, I am just working through the masts now, and then onto the rigging. I am at issue 90, so only 10% to go! I have vowed to finish this build before starting the SOtS properly, and am resisting the temptation to rush it! Gus W attached the following image(s): Currently Building:
