Issue 26 - Contains bamboo & basswood wooden planking strips and pin-nails.
Continuing the hull planking - The aim of this stage is to correct the shape of the planking at the centre of the hull, reducing the space to be filled and at the same time levelling the planking.
This is done by fitting another 4 rows of planking which should be repeated on the oposite side of the hull.
Row 1 - Taper a plank as shown in the steps, and fix it on the hull, starting from an intermediate point between frame #2 and #5, reaching to midway of frame #15.
When the glue has fully dried, use a sanding block to level the plank at the tapered end so there is a smooth flow onto the previous row.
Taper a second plank and fix to the hull betwen the midpoint of frame #15 and the midpoint of frame #21.
Row 2 -Taper another plank, and fix between frame #6 and midpoint of frame #16. When the glue has fully dried use a sanding block to level the tapered end of the strip onto the previous row.
Taper another plank and fix between the midpoint of frame #16 and #22.
Row 3 -Taper another plank as shown, and fix from the first bow former to the mid point of frame #13.
Taper another plank, and fix from the mid point of frame 13 to an intermediate point between frames #21 and #22.
Row 4 - Taper another plank, and fix between the first bow former and the midway point of frmae #7.
Fix a second plank from the midpoint of frmae #7 to the midpoint of frame #16.
Fix a third plank from the mid point of frame #16 to the midpoint of frame #21
Finally, taper a plank as shown, and fix between the midpoint of frame #21 and the stern.
You may find that the remaining planking gap can be completed in 27, though final information of how to fit the remaining planking gaps is contained in 28.
Hull smoothing is not carried out until the end of Issue 34, after the upper frame planking has been fitted.
Fitting out the launch - Take the ship's boat and one of the previously painted strips, cut to length and glue three lengths as shown at the stern to create the side and stern rails.
That's it for this stage, set aside the ship's boat until the next stage where we will add the bow shelf and transom corner brackets. Store the remaining bamboo and sapele strips.

Add further parts to the ships boat - Take the fret that was provided with Issue 8, and cut the bow shelf & stern brackets from the fret.
Smooth the edges of the brackets and shelf until they fit snugly in the positions shown, then glue them into place.
Thenb paint them to match the colour of the floorboards.
That's it for this stage, carefully store the remaining bamboo planking and sapele strips.

Construct the gun kit as before and finish it in your chosen guise.
Make up six tackle blocks as shown, fit three blocks to the eyebolts of the carriage as shown, and add eyebolts to the remaining blocks.
That's it for this stage, carefully store the gun, blocks and gallery panels.

Issue 30 - Contains a gun kit and dummy gun support beams.
Add the gallery panels - Glue and fit the aft gallery panel centrally on the gallery framework, its top edge should be level with the top of the platform, (You may have a slight overhang of panel at either side).
Allow the glue to fully dry before continuing, then sand the panel overhang at each side flush with the frame edge. (The curved gap beneath the bottom edge of the panel/gallery is dealt with in Issue 33).
Glue and fit the first of the two side panels to the framework, again, the top edge should be level with top of the platform and its aft edge flush with the edge of the rear galley panel, and at the forward edge the panel should rest half way across frame #27.
You will need to clamp the side panel in place so that it follows the curvature of the framework.
Repeat to fit the side panel at the opposite side of the gallery.
Adding the middle deck dummy gun support beams - Ensure that all of the beams are fitted up against the frames (at the angle).
Identify the smallest width of the three support beams, then cut to length as shown, and cut slots no more than half the thickness of the beam as shown.
Glue and fit the beam spanning from the forward bulkhead aft, to halfway across frame 13. Repeat to fit the forward beam on the opposite side of the hull.
Cut, fit and glue a middle sized width of beam as shown, (the beam length noted should be approx 238mm rather than 248mm). You will need to slightly reduce the width on the top side of the beam where it will join with the previous beam so that can butt up to it. Fit the beam so that it runs from frame 13 to halfway across frame 16. Repeat to fit a middle beam on the opposite side of the hull.
Cut, fit and glue the large beams as shown, fit so that it runs from frame 16 to midway across fame 26.
Cut a 41mm length from the excess of the middle sized beam, and fit between frame 26 and 27, then repeat on the opposite side of the hull.
Paint each of the support beam sections black, and also the deck foreground and sides of each frame up to the height of the beams.
That's it for this stage, carefully store the gun kit (assembed with others at issue 37).
