When was the first "Steel-Wheeled" Tiger produced, what chassis no. and what happened to it?

Chassis No. 250822 - it was built in 1942 and was confiscated by Wa Pruf 6 for testing?

The Germans developed a late WW2 tracked vehicle to specifically knock down reinforced buildings and bunkers when attacking Russian cities. It utilised the hull and running gear of an existing German tank and carried a heavy mortar which was originally designed for a different branch of the German Armed Forces.
1. What was the name of the vehicle?
2. What tank was the hull and running gear taken from?
3. What branch of the German Armed Forces was the mortar originally designed for and what was its' main purpose in that Force?

It is the Sturmtiger, based on the mid and late Tiger 1 chassis. The mortar was originally designed for the German Navy as a submarine destroyer, there was also talk that a shell from this rocket launcher sank HMS Hood, although later proved to not be correct.

In 1945 the Russians experimented with some bolt on armour on a T-34/85 against anti-tank rockets. What was the armour, and what was the outcome of the first test infront of their high command????

Without having the faintest idea, I'd theorise that the armour was composed of captured SS Officers and that subsequently the Russian High Command decided that using an 18" Naval Shore battery probably wasn't the most realistic of demonstrations! Good question though! The only thing I have found about the armour updates was this late one from 1945 spring. The additional screening consisted of a thin, 1.5 mm, metal plate or a 3 mm wire mesh welded on the supporting corners. The shield was placed in 15-20 cm from the main armor on the sides of the hull, turret and the turret's top. Couldn't find out about the test you got me there .
