Hi Jase The large base for my Grimsby was bought from one of the stalls at the Plymouth Model Exhibition many years ago (my last visit netted a dozen small wooden bases (single figure types) from 10p to 25p - I can't make them for that price!) The brass support columns came from the local model shop although they are very rare to find in there. CMB does a range of decorative supports though, all you'd need is the wooden base itself. They can be home made but I've never been that good at routering wooden planks into bases! An alternative source would be a pre-edged pinewood shelf from B&Q or other DIY store. Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

It's a tricky one Jase. I've been pondering the Bismarck Stand for a while, Ive got an Oak Sideboard in my shed that some one gave me, and it's beyond Furniture now, as some mice used it as a High-Rise Home , so I thought I'd pull it apart and Spindle Mould a nice Plank from that. I'm thinking 4 Columns, but not the turned Brass Type, something a little more Steel/Industrial.

I was keeping my eyes open for a nice piece of timber for a base for my 1:400 Queen Mary 2 and a friend told me he had aquired a beautiful piece of 70-yearold oak. I nearly wet myself when he handed me a COFFIN LID! Regards, Colin.
