Hi Alan,
Looking good, I`m still planking at last issue received number 25, but it`s good to see what`s coming up and how other people do things.
I like the use of the scrap bamboo to hold things in placeBigGrin .

This weekend I managed to finish the work up to issue 30... With the dummy gun supports fitted in place I then moved onto painting them using Admiralty Dull Black.... That now means I can carry on with the SF II until issue 31 is released on Wed..... Am pleased with how she is now looking and the deck doesn't look out of place even though I got the shade wrong.... Thanks to all who look in....BigGrin BigGrin

Regards

Alan

Coming on really well there Alan, that deck turned out pretty good in the end!Cool
Incidentally, what is the finish like on your Admiralty Dull Black? My Adm. Yellow Ochre is a beautiful dead matt and looks lovely, my Adm Dull Black is almost a semi gloss by comparison, it tones down a bit with the dry brushing but it's not what I would call "dull".
On the other hand some of the real life photos of the old girl's black hull areas do look like a satin finish rather than dead flat!

Keep them coming!

Hi Robin, thanks for the nice comments and I agree, think I managed to rescue the deck in the end considering what it was like to begin with...BigGrin BigGrin .. As for the Adm dull black, my take on it is it's more of a satin rather than a matt finish and for me I do like it... Hope the attached close ups help and this is with the flash going off too... not too bad really.... Cool Cool

Have almost finished the planking as instructed in issue 31 of the mag.... Blink Blink Only one more row to add on the other side then onto some more work on the SF II..BigGrin BigGrin Left a slight overhang on rib 2 to be trimmed back later when the upper planking is finished...Cool I also found it necessary to check the fairing of the ribs at the bow as well as ensuring I bevelled the lower edge of each plank. I wanted to get as strong a bond as possible when applying PVA along the joining edges, along the full length. Also ensured I selected planks that did not leave any knots where gun ports were likely to be....Cool Cool Happy building all and thanks to those who look in and comment...BigGrin BigGrin .. Will complete the last row tomorrow....
