Spent a couple of hours wit a rasp and tore down the ribs and got everything flat. The original plan if I remember said to attach the cannon to a little block of wood and insert through the gunport!. I think this way will work better and more solid. HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply

I encountered a little problem with the bow shape in that it wasnt right and the planks would not sit right. On looking through some of the builds ,I decided to put in extra formers to try and correct this. At first glance it seems to work. I can see the benefits of fitting all them balsa formers. Got to admire you for attempting this, so much more work involved than just starting a new build, looking very nice in that last pic though, will be watching this one all the way

New decking in the process of fitting. I decided this had to go in now to add stability to the walls and it would not have gone in later as I intended. Ready to start the starboard side now. Progress will be slow now as I am back to work after a wek off . HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply

Hi Moriarty. You're really cracking on with her and improving all the way! It's really interesting seeing your Mantua version 'naked' and comparing her with the DelPrado early stages in the kit build instructions, almost identical sized models but so many differences in the methods and kit parts! Keep up the good work M Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

I still had the original brass drips that I never fitted on the original. Held on to them for 10 years, never throw anything away. A dry run with the doors and drips as they will look hopefully. HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply

Another update guys, had a think about the stand for this one and decided to build it in with the hull. The hull is going to be coppered so it should all look neat and tidy when finished. A couple of bits of scrap dowl cut into the keel and anchored with a smaller piece, abit of glue ,a couple of pins and it is rock solid.
