well almost up to speed with the launch. broke the last rib (at rear) sanding to get the contour right, stuck it back on, but it broke again in seperation from jig (blahh)
done the planking, tapered wrong way on starboard side but did it right on port side. Its the last piece thats the hardest.

ok my anchor, i decided to leave the stock in natural wood (can always paint it later if i choose).
i used wood for the bands instead of the thread supplied, my first wooden built so the practice is needed.
made a bigger ring out of brass wire, i puddened the ring before bending it round a pen.

filed the anchor down to rid the flaws, then painted it with a black paint which had been mixed with white to take the strenth out of the black. (at this scale pure black is too stark, so although the photo looks black it is in fact far from it.
then varnished it with a satin varnish, (again gloss not right for scale) still think the satin varnish is still too shiny

then matt varnished the stock left to dry, masked up the four bands, now at this point i matt varnished the masking tape joint, this seals the masking tape and any bleed will be the matt varnish, If your masking the side of victory for instance the yellow from the black then paint the masking joint yellow any bleed will be of the base coat yellow and the masking tape is sealed, although you can always touch it up when using paint, with the natural wood of the stock i thought better to seal the tape

here`s one i did about ten years ago, originally done by my favourate artist john atkinson grimshaw born in leeds in 1836

the cutty sark, model done in 3DS, scene done in VUE 4, i placed the ship too high out of the water, but what the hell.

the launch so far
