Hi fellow builders Just a few updates that have been done over the last few weeks. The stern decoration. Needed a very steady hand to complete but i'm happy with the result. [ ] The bowsprit completed and attached [ ] [ ] The carronades installed and just require the coils to be added. [ ] Hammock nets and hammocks inserted. a rather long and intricate job until an easier method was thought out. Also not too unhappy with the result. [ ] All the shrouds attached and ready to be connected. Top and Bottom. [ ] My attempt at the boarding pikes. Mmmmm might need a little more attention!! [ ] That's all for now folks, comments welcome and thank you for looking in. Thanks for looking in and your kind comments, Alan and Mike. Steve, tricky in the sense of a lot of small knots and lining up. I took the width of 3mm and cut the cloth in length, soaked the lengths in diluted PVA let dry overnight, which made them easier measure and cut to the required lengths and easier to handle. Gerrit, trust me when I tell you it gets easier as you go along and you get better. Sometimes its better to strip off and do it again, remember its only wood and can be fixed as can be seen on a number of diary builds. Just take your time and enjoy. You build will look just as good if not better. Hi all. Thank you Peter, Andy and Bernd for your kind comments. Bernd. With the rigging so far so good. I am a little concerned but am taking it step by step, trying not to rush and get ahead of myself. I will post some pics of the progress soon. Thank you Garth, appreciated. The decision to stain and not paint is quite simple. My Vic is not 100% historically correct and I went for a look that i would enjoy looking at. I am not at a stage whereby I spend a lot of time researching the build. I work during the day so this is my spare time hobby amongst other things. I follow most of the forum, and if I see something I like and its looks good, I do it for my pleasure. DISASTER STRUCK . Moving the build from one table to another and did not ralise that the temporary base had come adrift, put her down and she keeled over. Reflexes were also a littel slow . Spent the last week in repairs, fortunately only superficial damage, nothing that could not be repaired. Moral of the story, make sure that temporary base stays attached, when moving her, so attached an elastic band to the inside of the temporary base and over the top at the entrance portals, she WILL NOT now fall over. Will post pics of my progress and my attachment method soon. Hi Hans! As the others have said, best of luck and I hope it's not too big a job. I still have to do a lot of repairs on my first ship the "Grimsby", nothing wooden thank goodness but I left her up in the attic too long and the constantly changing temperatures (before I got a skylight) has shredded her rigging better than one of Boney's chain shots! I will get it done! (That's what I keep telling myself...I will get it done!!) Best of luck again Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1
