Might be a bit late for yourself but if anyone else is thinking of masking up the gun bases check out Micron Masking Tape.

Here's a link:

Hull and Deck
Total build time 50 hours

Having completed the job of adding the etch scuttles and hand irons i was ready to complete the job of painting the hull. The main hull colour is Dunkelgrau 51 the bow and stern is Dunkelgrau 2. Other than some tiny touch up this job is now complete. weathering the hull will done as a last job as the railings go on. I have also recived the brass screws these have not been cleaned up and fixed as yet and will also be a later job.

With the main hull painted i completed the job of painting the deck fittings some small fittings need to be removed before the deck can be fitted. the deck fittings are either Dunkelgru 2 or Hellgrau 50. the edge of the deck ( the thickness of the hull casting) was also painted in the lighter Hellgrau 50. once left to dry overnight i was ready to add the deck overlays. The deck comes as 6 pieces 3 main sections and 3 small sections around the bow. The deck overlays are very thin, if you hold them to the light they are almost translucent. This is great because it does not submerge the fine deck mouldings but it is important to remember that any paint parks on your deck will show through so it is best to ensure you have removed or painted out any surface marks before fitting the deck. i started with the stern, learning from past experience I removed the backing film in its entirety then gently placed this over the deck lining it up with the fittings then gently begin to press down over the tallest fittings to ensure the deck is square before pressing down from the stern moving towards the midships. take your time as your only going to be able to list the deck once and that could cause a rip, the adhesive has a strong grab. the trickiest deck piece is the centre section that has the centre walk way connecting the port and starboard sides and i had a tiny fit problem with these piece mating with the main fore deck piece. Once in place , however it looks stunning Love

Looking Good JaseThumpUp
I've started back to front and am doing Superstructure stuff, a small point to note is that the Lower Ladder on the Funnel is shown in the wrong place on the MK1 instructions.
Also, I've ordered some PE from our German Friend, but whilst I have received an order Confirmation, there is no indication of how to Pay either on the E-Mail or on the Website, any ideasConfused Confused

I've ordered the Booms and Screw Protectors (Heckspier, Schraubenschutz and Backspier), as they include the Cabling etc which I think will look good. Plus the 54 Sacrificial Anodes (Opferanoden). I may also get the Small and Large Hanger Doors.

That'll be the Front, Centre, Rear and Catapult Sets I guessBigGrin
The Boat set was disappointing as it offered less than the MK1 set, but they are certainly adding, as you say, a lot extra in these sets. AA Guns, Officers and Structural Railings nextBigGrin Drool
