I've been doing a bit of research Daran and it looks like your chosen colour scheme is the one used by the Russians on their D51 Locos at Sakhalin Island, I think it wasn't used by the Japanese though I may be wrong as I'm no train buff??:

You're gonna need loads of AK Interactive 'Rust' powder though if you want to be authentic as per the photos on that site!! LOL LOL LOL LOL

Great choice Daran, I saw the same thing earlier when I was researching and I like that one most of all that I've come across!! The basic model is just black nearly everything, but this one has the nice red accents on the connecting arms (or whatever they call them?!) plus I like the 'Orient Express' link on the tender?? Easy enough to get that writing on the tender sorted?

That's the one for me I think!! Cool ThumpUp

Your right, I think it is the one I am going for. The decals should be easily sourced, or I may template, and the link Tomick put up for the No. plates should be able to supply them. It is also one of the loco's pulling The Orient Express so it gives it some history. BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

Exactly, a nice subtle scheme with some nice colour highlights and a history that most people would relate to - always liked the old 'Orient Express'!!! Drool

I keep meaning to investigate how to make home-made decals and I think this would be an easy one for a first attempt? The artwork would be no problem for me just need to understand how to get the size on the PC monitor to print out correctly at the other end!! Confused Blink Huh BigGrin

I think it'll look stunning Daran and as it is the Orient Express, a nice excuse to polish all that brass and have a nice clean shiny paint scheme so no weathering to do either except some oily black washes around the running gear?? Sounds perfect to me!!

Just noticed that blooming great circular embossed OE plaque on the front!! A bit of plasticard or even brass plate and some beautifully moulded Green Stuff methinks!?

Where could I source a 1:24 Hercules Poirot figure and a murder victim and a few suspects?? LOL LOL LOL LOL

tut tut tut, you two are as bad as each other!!

I will certainly be following this one with a keen eye

I've always loved trains, my grandad worked on them when he was a young man and he used to tell me stories about his journeys
Still got a few old train bits a pieces that we're handed down to me

Fond memories Cool

Maybe it's something I should look into doing too
