BigGrin Hi All
Some more progress added another platform and some railings and then carried on with the forward landing deck supports.
The instructions say there should be 10.5 mm gap between the deck and the hangar so my way round this was to cut two pieces at 10.5 and glue them to the bottom of the hangar floor so saving constant measuring.
The cast struts are of the usual cast tungstenCrying and it took me all day to get them to fit ,a great deal of metal needs removing to get them to fit as you can see from the pics and I still have the tops to take down so I got a bench grinder from argus which should speed things up a little tomorrow. As always all comments/questions are welcome
regards

Looking good Andy,
Those struts look a pain to do. Getting the grinder a good solution i think. Sorry to hear of your recent illness but glad your back again. Will be getting back to mine over the weekend I hope been playing catch up a ittle on my victory.

Stunning work Andy....BigGrin BigGrin .. Would never have thought you would have needed a bench grinder for this kit. When I first saw it I thought you were going to use it to sharpen some of your tools ....Blushing Blushing

BigGrin Hi Alan
Niether did I the metal castings are of a very hard composition in both this kit and the Yamato, although the removal of burr's ect is not a real problem just time consuming and files will wear out quite rapidly on this metal as I have found out.
Its when you come to major fabrication that the time fly's with this metal as to get it to fit the deck girders each strut needs reducing by about half to get it to fit in the correct position, of course I could have cheated and just sniped away a crosmember but that's not for me.
As for the bench grinder well it finally gave me the excuse to get oneLOL , I did find one online for just under £20 but nearly £8 in postage and a week's average delivery still made the Argos one a better deal

Hi Andy!LOL
It's a foul play!(of course it's just a joke).Scared Scared Scared We, Japanese Akagi modelers had to scratch the metal supports by hands! The work was like Japanese Zen practice. We could not talk, eat or sleep when we scratched them.Crying The severe work damaged our hands.Crying
Your work seems very fine as usual!Love

BigGrin Hi Alan
Thanks for your comments, the braces are supplied as just wire and you cut and bend to the required lengths so some scratch building is required but as you say time taken gives the required results and looks even better with a coat of paint

BigGrin Hi All
Just a small update, fitted the paravane deck and added the front two wood deck parts. The deck parts are printed paper and I have found the printed image is shall we say a little fragile so be carefull with it when using it. That compleats all of issue 20 just issue 21 to do now to catch up. As always all comments questions are welcome

Crying You may also notice a problem that im having with the ply deck pieces warping, I personally think they should be made from plastic not the ply supplied . The main reason for the warping I think is the central deck pieces are free floating and have nothing to grip, I may hav a play and stick some down and leave the others floating or just stick the lot down , still undecided about that
