Started to carry out the sanding down of the hull but decided to put the process on hold... Glare Glare I really wasn't happy with the flimsy feel to the unsupported planks sitting above the ribs. Blink Blink Blink As the bullworks will be planked on the inside on the other side of the ribs a decision was made to add reinforcing planks to the inside to at least give those areas some rigidity. These reinforcing planks will not be seen and yes, I realise it may mean more bamboo to cut through when it comes to cutting out the gun ports but for the added rigidity I think it is a price worth paying... BigGrin BigGrin Was actually very surprised just how much more rigid the upper planks felt and now feel confident it can handle the pressures of the sanding and cutting process...... Will now get down to sanding the hull tomorrow.... BigGrin BigGrin

Regards

Alan

Happy to say have spent the last couple of evenings sanding and filling the hull.... sanding arm feels as if it's hanging off... LOL LOL .. At least now the process is complete, all nice and smooth ready for the next layer of planking.... Tonight will give the hull a coat of sanding sealer for protection....BigGrin BigGrin

BigGrin Hi Alan
Nice job with the sanding there, just a little advice the flater and smoother you get the 1st planking will ease the application of the secondary planks, so getting this part right will improve the look of the final planking
